i went to the eye doctor the other day and they recommended me the polycarbonated glass since i drive at night and so the glare wont bother me…but i think they lied and they didn’t do the right thing…..so i can i tell if they did there job right or wrong..by just looking at my glasses?
He has to wear eyeglasses all of the time except when he goes to bed at night or when he showers. (It’s been this way since he was in the second grade.)
This is his first year playing football and he’s so excited! We have his yearly eye exam set up for this Wednesday and I’m wondering what to expect as far as what kind of eyewear is available to a kid like him who loves the idea of playing a contact sport like football but will have to wear something besides the typical pair of eyeglasses to be able to see at 100%.
He has played baseball for years and wore his normal eyeglasses for that, I never inquired about any other option.
I have luckily never had to deal with eye/vision problems myself growing up and nobody on my side of the family has either, so I don’t know what to look and ask for in regards to our son.
Has anyone else out there had to deal with this kind of situation? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!
One of his eye problems/diagnosis a few years back was astigmatism. I know each year we have went back for the exam to this same eye doctor, his prescription had to be stronger and thus a NEW LENSES PURCHASE ($$$) for our son.
The doctor says that this is completely normal while he’s growing and getting older. I worry that he’ll lose his vision entirely at the rate he’s supposedly going before he gets to be of adult age.
Dr. Terry L. Bonds, practicing in Jacksonville, Alabama, as an optometrist offers services in exams and fittings for new I-Zone contact lenses. These lenses help reduce headlight glare and defraction when night driving, so you can see with safety. Visit us www.yellowpages.com
Hello. I was diagnosed with myopia (near-sightedness) when I was like 9 years old, and I have worn glasses ever since. I am 22 years old now and my vision has gotten progressively worse as expected, but in these past months it seems like my vision has been getting a lot worse at a much faster rate. Everything past a foot is a complete blur. I have to literally be like a foot away from the computer monitor in order to read the text. There are three things — which I’m about to describe in separate paragraphs below — that are possibly to blame, I just don’t know which one it is exactly and what I can do to fix the problem.
For one, I haven’t gotten a new eyeglass prescription in several years now. Last year I went to the eye doctor and got a prescription for contact lenses, but I rarely wear them, which means I wear my old, outdated glasses almost predominantly the entire day.
Secondly, these old, outdated glasses are broken. I accidently sat on them awhile ago and broke one of the nose rest pads and curved part of of one of the legs. They also got bended to hell, but I did my best to bend them back into shape. The end end result is that they fit on my face, but at an angle because one end is slightly higher than the other. I cannot do anything about it because they’re already on the verge of completely breaking. I have heard that wearing them at an angle is harmful and it strains your vision.
Lastly, in the past months I have been more stressed than usual and I’ve been spending a lot of time on the computer. By a lot of time, I mean almost half-a-day every day (with breaks in between ofcourse). When I’m on the computer at night, my eyes almost always hurt and my vision gets blurry, so I have to massage them constantly. It feels like they are having a hard time focusing.
What do you believe is going on with my eyes? Is it a correctable problem, is it just that my eyes are strained, or is my vision permanently messed up? i know I have been neglectful to my eyes but these past months have not been very good for me and I’m trying to get myself back in order, including my health. I cannot help but think that if I were ever in some kind of emergency, I would be at a severe disadvantage because of my poor eyesight and dire dependance on eyeglasses.
Words at a distance (from couch to TV) are getting blurry for me. Especially at night. They never used to be, however, after years of working in front of a computer screen, I believe it is time for me to get glasses.
I have a friend who just bought a pair of glasses off a rack at the local pharmacy. But his vision is bad at all times, not just at night like mine. Should I just go and try out some glasses off the rack, or should I make an appointment with an eye doctor?
Would off-the-shelf glasses help with blurry vision at night?
